ON Gallery

ON is a project devoted to bringing interactive media into a gallery setting. We feel that by using the stage of a gallery to allow individuals and groups to interact with art, technology and each other we can help support the notion that interactive media is as worthwhile for it's artistic value as it is for it's commercial value.

ON is located in the Everett Station Lofts

Yesterday we met with Ben Foote (the curator at ON Gallery) to go over specifics about the space and our piece(s). I feel like we've come a long way since day one. We are now finally set on a format that we will be presenting our pieces, and we're starting to piece together sketches [...]

Some of the best galleries in Seattle reside on a strip on 2nd avenue in Belltown. On this Second Friday, the afternoon was perfect, maybe it was the Dali Lama's visit? The day was beautiful with green finally showing up on trees and paintings showing up on gallery walls. Damion Hayes, the gallery director [...]

Portland Art Museum has done it again. A trifecta of family goodness. First they bundled several fun family events onto Sunday, so you can pay admission for the day and engage in many activities. Then, they announced a new grant to make museum entry free for youth later this spring. Now, they're launching a new (free with admission) class to teach adults how to engage children in art through an interactive tour, group discussion, and informal art-making.

Last weeks First Thursday was an object lesson in how useful this class will be for us. We take Jake with us on gallery strolls whenever possible. It's a free and fun way for him to see art that would never, for a variety of reasons, hang on our walls. At every gallery we ask questions, play imagination games, and talk with artists. While this is enjoyable for all, we don't really know what we're doing, having taken too many economics, math and history classes and not enough art and literature. I know I'm not alone, so if this sounds like you then here's your chance for a belated education.
