It's Friday, so why are you trying to be productive? [ed.--because I wasn't productive on Thursday, obviously.] [Is it because you were on the Fwis site yesterday?] [ed.--yes, and you are a bastard for telling me about it. But tell others so I don't feel so guilty.] [Okay!] Okay! So today, Friday, PDX Writer Daily readers should enjoy themselves cruising around the Fwis website!Fwis is a design firm that specializes in book covers, and has offices in Brooklyn and Portland. The site has a veritable cornucopia (because there isn't any other kind of cornucopia these days--the last time we went to Sur La Table and asked about cornucopias, they weren't carrying them) of covers, comments on covers, bookshelves, comments on bookshelves, and so on. Enjoy!
PRETTY MUCH MANDATORY READING: Mike Davis is one of Minneapolis favorites. He and his Burlesque mafia make some pretty rad shit back there in MInneapolis. (Hey Horkey!) Read an interview with Mr. Davis over at Grain Edit. Dig what you see above? Go buy one from Burlesque North America. Here's what I like about these guys: They make it happen. Bravo, fellas. - - - - Great, great work at Fwis. Portland people, too, man! Bravo. Get over there and dig on it. I sure did. There is so much greatness in Portland. Inspiring times. - - - - Tons of beer coasters. I've been here before many times, but, man, these fuckers just get me every time. The texture, the printing and the drinking problems. I love it all. - - - - Now this place is a little more "my speed" with my tanker desk hunt. Real prices for real people. Not this kind of joint. Granted, everything is mint and perfect in a joint like that, but, priced so far out of the stratosphere it leaves so many people behind. That place is the museum, the Berkeley Outlet is the marketplace . A trip might be in order down south. - - - - Tons of old desks in Minneapolis. Too bad the links don't pop up to something bigger. Is it just me? Nevertheless, wow. - - - - Some cool furniture design over at Pull Tab Design in the big city New York....

I received no Peeps this year for Easter. Just as well, as after my company's Peeps eating contest, I think I will abstain for awhile. I would like to have received one of these Jacques Torres eggs though. Fortunately, I did get some See's.
If you like self help books, particularly with a sprititual lean, you should have a gander at Moka.com. The site details a service by which you can receive summaries and key points from your fave books of wisdom. I use that phrase, because the service also includes key text from great philosophers and the major world religions. As for me, I'd like a service that would randomly send me science fiction quotes (in audio) like "He's no good to me dead," or Kirk shouting "Khan!" That would totally raise my spirits.
The Book Covers Blog disses both I Am Legend and the book's most recent cover. Double fie on them for liking the old lame cover.
Here Ian McEwan talks about his new book and why he likes scientists more than humanities types.
You may have heard of the coyote which boarded the Portland light Rail System. In Chicago, they go to Quiznos.
