Green drinks-- it's not just about absinthe any more. Ecometro already showcases many varieties of organic wine and beer, from the Sokol Blosser Winery to the Roots Organic Brewing Company. Encouraged by the progress of these local wineries and microbreweries is the burgeoning micro-distillery movement, with small distillers churning out their special blend of organic libations. Considering that tons upon tons of grain are used in the production of high-grade vodka and gin, it is more important now than ever to take a sustainable swig....
Visit 3 breweries sampling beer at each one and enjoy brew from Roots on your way to each bar! 21+ only. Tickets include all beer samples, beer on the bus, snacks provided by ecoShuttle and Roots, tips for bartenders, and transportation to and from each bar. BikeCraft, the bike-lover's gift bazaar that showcases local, handmade, bike-themed arts, crafts, fashion, and more, is Wednesday, December 10th at Roots Organic Brewing (SE 7th and Hawthorne). Roots recently expanded into the space next door so there will be plenty of room for this popular craft fair. Shopping for holiday gifts at BikeCraft is a great way to support local artists and find unique items for people you love. You'll see things that you definitely can't find elsewhere.
Last year the fair featured locally-made "Smittens" bike glove-mittens, bike-themed clocks, original stencil paintings by the amazingly talented Tiago DeJerk, earthenware plates with bike motifs, bike-part furniture, messenger bags, cycling caps, t-shirts, zines, patches, stickers, and more. This year Filmed by Bike will be unveiling a Greatest Hits DVD, designed by Stumptown Printers, and a first-ever t-shirt.
BikeCraft is also a fun bikers' party. You can grab a beer, mingle, check out the booths and clink your glass to celebrate another great year of cycling in Oregon.
