Event Description: Come catch the Portland debut of Vou Vivendo, a unique Latin Jazz quartet. They will be playing primarily choro, a lively Brazilian style that is danceable and fun! Saxophone virtuoso Dr. Tom Bergeron will be joining the group, which features mandolin, guitar, bass and percussion.
Cost: $5 at the door, 21+ show

There was an oversight in our endorsement of Will Hobbs for Congress, which Phil Stanford of the look-on-the-sunny-side-Trib and a commenter at Bojack have both tried to make up for?we didn't name Hobbs' band. It's Wheatfield (and that's Hobbs on the far right, with the mandolin). They've got a MySpace page with a few songs and this self-description. "Wheatfield is a five member band from Portland, Oregon, whose music combines a variety of instruments with strong vocal harmonies into an individual blend of rock, country, folk and bluegrass that is sometimes termed ‘Americana.'" Listen...they're a lot better than the Eagles (who give "Americana" a bad name)...and?hey!?they're playing tonight.
