Hi all, I've lived in Portland for a year and a half now and there's one thing I've yet to really, really find: a place with sacred city views.  The esplanade is cool for views of downtown, and the bridges are nice, but loud and there's no place to sit and read or watch the sunset.  Tabor is nice as well, but I'm after more of a panorama and a place more centrally located.

The HUB on Powell has some decent views as well, but again... I want that sacred panorama.  I heard once that theres a way up to the 5th floor of the City Liquidators building... which would be amazing.  I'm after something like that.  Anyone care to share their discoveries?  I''m not after trouble, but I wouldnt mind pushing through some if-y doors and risking getting kicked out.  Remember the Disney cartoon Aladdin? When our hero takes Jasmine to his abode and shares his view of the city?  Thats what I'm after. Minus the princess.  Minus the monkey.  Minus the potential violence.

I am looking to buy a king size head/foot board. Something unique and wooded. And ideas on where to look. I already checked City Liquidators and Cost plus. And the cheaper the better. Any ideas on where to look?
Thanks guys

So, here are two ideas that I am floating, since our get-togethers at the East Side are so full of love, harmony and enchanting discussion.

First, I think that in this beautiful weather we are having, we should have a get together outside. I was thinking sometime on a Friday/Saturday afternoon we could meet for picnic-like activities at, say, Hoyt Arboretum. There is a viewing spot there that isn't that much of a walk from the MAX station.

Second, if you haven't been to the City Liquidators, it is a very interesting place to go! Especially if you like cheap office supplies! And odd discontinued toys! Would anyone in this group want to go there for an hour or so? Hopefully we wouldn't be so much of annoying ironic hipsters that they would have to kick us out!

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Another negative report has surfaced in connection with last week's story about a rent-a-cop firm's manager being warned by police over taking "pseudo police action."pseudocop.jpg

As I mentioned in my lengthy apology below, part of the reason I've been absent on this blog is because I recently moved and was without internet for a while. In the spirit of keeping the blog alive, as well as to keep our readers up to date on our lives, I thought I'd share "The Move."

Prior to moving, Syd and I had been living out of a room in an apartment I shared with another person. While the apartment was fairly nice, it didn't feel like ours, so we often confined ourselves to the 12x12 box upstairs, which quickly transformed into a big pile of clothes with a bed in the middle. After living like this for a few months, Syd and I made the decision to get our own place together.

After talking about it for a couple weeks, we finally got a list of vacant apartments and made an effort to view them. On our first day of looking, just before quitting due to being discouraged by w...

I want to get fresh with you. Are any of you old enough to remember that phrase? "I got fresh with him/her." Didn't think so. Today is the day after. The day after the holiday season. The day to sort of regroup, refresh, reenergize. And get fresh, too. Freshen up. Fresh starts. Fresh attitudes. Not that it shouldn't happen every single morning -- but today, for some reason, makes it a little easier to point ourselves in that fresh direction. After our New Year's Open House yesterday, we settled into fresh, clean sheets on our bed. I had jumped out of bed at 6am yesterday morning and ripped the sheets off of the bed in order to git 'em all scrubbed up. Honey asked me what in the world I was doing laundry for at 6am on New Year's Day (a horribly valid question). I just knew that the sheets needed to be washed and that I am in love with climbing into clean ones at the end of a long day. Or a long year, for that matter. And, thus, the washing ceremony.
