Exchange Cycle Tours presents.... BIKE CAMPING!ECT will be leading a number of bike camping trips this year, and our first such trip is April 12-13.  These are completely self-supported camping trips (meaning we carry everything out and back on the bike - no SAG vehicles, no baggage truck).  Our first trip of the year is to Champoeg State Park in St. Paul, SE of Newburg.Champoeg State Park is on open prairie land along the Willamette River, and is the site of Oregon's first provisional government.  It is also the start/finish site of the Harvest Century each October.  The camping area of the park has 2 motorhome loops, yurts, and a hiker/biker camp on Loop A.  The hiker/biker camp is set back from the RV area and has a number of trees in and around it.  It sits next to the property line of the park and the private land on the other side is a multi-acre grazing area.  There are 6 areas in the hiker/biker camp for campfires / tents, and the site can easily accommodate 20+ cyclists.  The best part is it's never full, it's open year-round even when the A loop is closed during winter, and it's only $4 a night.Did I mention that they have hot showers?  Bring a towel.  They also have firewood and ice for sale, on-site.Come join us for a 33-mile ride out to Champoeg State Park, an overnight camping stay, and a 33-mile ride back on Sunday.  If you're a first-time bike camper, email execdir@exchangecycletours.org for information about what you need to bring with you to safely enjoy this trip.  ECT will be offering low-cost Touring 101 cl...

LAKE OSWEGO -- Girl Scout troops from West Linn and Lake Oswego will take donated bicycles Saturday so that they can be given free to children and adults.

The bicycle drop off is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lake Grove Albertson's grocery store, 16199 S.W. Boones Ferry Road, and from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Athey Creek Middle School, 2900 S.W. Borland Road.

Volunteers will clean and tune up the bicycles, which will be given to low-income families -- along with free helmets and bike safety education. Remaining bikes will become part of community programs for adults and children, or parts will be reused, recycled or salvaged.

The holiday bike drive is sponsored by Girl Scout troops 2574 and 2611 , the Community Exchange Cycle Touring Club (www.exchangecycletours.org) and the Community Cycling Center (www.communitycyclingcenter.org).
