the recyclery

The Recyclery Bicycle Shop is located on the West side of Northern America, otherwise known as "The Happy side of America." (Yes I made it up.;) On the West Coast, Oregon is the center of it all. Inside of Oregon grows a beautiful city, named "PORTLAND". And here, in Portland, is home to the West Coast's favorite step child: The Recyclery.

We are open every day of the week from around 11- to 7pm. We buy, sell, trade, and barter bicyle related items happily. We do custom work of every sort. Our speciality are fast road bikes - in all shapes and sizes. We promote the resale and daily use of our bicycles, and strive to promote happy and safe rides. We are not a co-op, but an emerging business as a way of life. We are run by reusing & rebuilding unnew bicycles; from modern to exotic, from frames to accessories, and everything in between. So come in and visit us, we're here for you!

Jayme S. Hall and Elle Poindexter try to act nonchalant when the director, Carl Jameson, screams, "Perfect! Now one more time!"

We shot the first scenes for The Bicyclist movie this past weekend at The Recyclery. The days both went well, the cast hit their marks and the crew kept it all in focus. We got behind just like Hollywood and have a few pickup shots for the next time.

Next stop: The Belligerante's.

Desiree Brajevich has been cast, via our casting agent Craigs List, as Kate Bowman a not so tough as nails member of The Belligerante's

The next episode of the web series: The Bicyclist: "Tough Love" will go online 8/14. It's in the editing suite calling out my name right now.

Last, but not least a new "Spare Parts" will go online on 8/8 with behind the scenes footage from the movie.

TEN TREASURES FROM THE PAPER SHOW: 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06 | 07 | 08 | 09 | 10 - - - - IT'S GONNA BE A GOOD FALL: Mercury Rev ready two albums for late September. - - - - STOUT GOODNESS: Can't really say I'm too down with those Conchords guys, but do dig Tyler Stout's poster series for them. Bravo. - - - - A SITE WE DESIGNED, AND IS UP AND RUNNING: Robbie Sell. Proud as hell. Fill that thing up, Rob. - - - - STARTING THE SEARCH FOR A BIKE: John's vintage bikes got us going in this quest. I just want to lock down some sort of "simple bike." You know, what was good for 1960, should still be good for today, right? Well, one stop to the bike store just about "derailed" my hopes of finding something new. Flames and pinstripes and goofy doohickies and beach culture and shocks and shit just kinda made me turn right around and get the hell out. The last bike I bought was in 1997 up in Anchorage. A beautiful Cannondale mountainbike deal that was used daily getting down to the train, and getting all over town. I miss those afternoons blasting around those city streets. But a decade later, the thing is just, "too nice" or something. Too springy and too contraption-y with shit rattling and clicking and stuff. I just want to cruise and keep it simple. So I'm reaching out. Anyone got any ideas on where I should start? I've been on the local Craiglist clicking around, and might even go over the the Recyclery to frankenstein something together. Here's my wishlist: Comfortable, maybe a 3-5 speed, simple handlebars, etc. Help....

They're hard to see but that's the cast of The Bicyclist posing for a still at The Recyclery.

The Bicyclist boasts a cast and crew with decades of combined experience in theater and film - and if all the stars align just right will be an overnight success soon. I feel it now and I felt it at our first big ass photo shoot this past weekend.

Sure, there was yelling and it was frigging cold - but damn there was a lot of good stuff going on. Stuff that can't be missed by bloggers, mags, and the entertainment bigwigs when we start our PR campaign later this month.

One of these days, one of these days, bam to the moon!

And that's no joke.

Gaadz are there ever loads of bike events this month! Drinks, tea, breakfast, beginners rides, family biking workshops, breakfast on the bridges, and that's just what's left! If you haven't taken the opportunity to get on a bike and join a community event yet, make sure to do it before the national Bike to Work Month is over. Plus, Chinook Book has loads of bike coupons.
