Café Vélo
Each cup of coffee is individually ground and brewed to order in porcelain filter holders
from a constantly changing selection of seasonal Stumptown single origin coffees.
We also feature a French press for those who prefer fuller body press coffee.

Cafe Velo's new bakfiets imported from the village of Nijland, Holland and equipped with custom coffee cargo box w/zinc countertop and hand painted, enameled steel Czech signage. Rides like a dream on flat ground, though it makes the smaller hills seem a bit steeper (okay, a lot steeper, actually).
Visit us Saturdays at the Portland Farmers Market in the park blocks at Portland State University.
Clearly recognizing hams when they see them, Portland Farmer's Market staffers Anna and Amber asked Michelle and I if we'd like to deviate from our usual Taste the Place duties for a week and undertake a Special Project last Saturday: create a "cornucopia" of a display table, showcasing all the finest bounty the Portland Farmer's Market has to offer. Why? Because the Travel Channel was coming to film a Travel Oregon segment, which meant some great exposure for the Market! Naturally, we agreed. If there's anything we like better than a)promoting Farmer's Market and b)taking pictures of ourselves, it's promoting Farmer's Market while television crews take pictures of us! It was a special mission made in TableTalkPortland heaven.

Michelle and I needed to walk off some of the bowling ball-sized lumps of Kenny & Zuke's late night happy hour food that still lie leaden in our bellies Saturday morning, so we headed downtown for the PSU Portland Farmer's Market, our favorite food haven between the months of April and December.
Here is what we did.
It is snowing! This wretched faux-Spring. Michelle was quite cold and I was rather hungry, so we had to catch rabbits in the South Park blocks and fashion her a warm headdress and me a bit of rabbit stew for breakfast. (Just kidding, PETA! That is totally faux fur and I had a Salvador Molly's tamale for breakfast!)

Here is what we did.
We have been slacking here at TableTalkPortland. Big Time. Oh sure, we've still been doing our thing--hobbling/biking to the pool, I mean, food carts, trying great new restaurants like Belly Timber on SE Hawthorne, gorging ourselves at Table For Twelve at Le Pigeon, taking the Travel Channel film crew that filmed Portland Farmer's Market this past weekend to Clyde Common and Bridgeport Brewpub, and of course, helping support the local bar scene in this time of economic distress.
You know, the usual. But we haven't bothered telling any of our readers about our food jaunts. So Michelle has barricaded me in the TableTalkPortland office with a scant supply of Proscecco and a mere half dozen Scharffen Berger Bittersweet bars with orders to update the blog thoroughly, while she jets off to Ashland for a long weekend. That is how we roll here at TTP.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words...as you know if you're a regular reader it's my MO to post a picture AND write a thousand words about it, maybe five thousand, but frankly I'm so exhausted from our relentless week-o-extreme revelry that I'm going to get pithy.
