May 7, 2008OregonLive.com: The Beer Here
Jeff Alworth notes on Beervana that Beer Northwest magazine now has its own blog (and maybe they'll post a link to that evil mainstream media beer blog, The Beer Here...) where they report that brewer Dylan Goldsmith is throwing...

From Portland Beer Blog:

The much-anticipated premier issue of Beer Northwest is finally here! According to Megan Flynn "It's been a spring and summer of super hard work, but it has paid off. My designer and I picked the mag up from the press on Friday evening and headed up to Seattle for the debut at the Fremont Oktoberfest. For those of you unfamiliar with Beer Northwest, it is a quarterly magazine featuring brew, food, and lifestyle in the Northwest, specifically Oregon and Washington. We are profiling chefs, have local beer event listings, recent openings, neighborhood guides, and more!"

Distribution:
the first issue will be somewhat randomly distributed throughout Oregon and Washington, but Megan says that she will be focusing specifically on breweries and pubs that serve a good selection of NW beer. Checkout her website soon for locations on where you can find Beer Northwest.

Subscriptions are available online at www.beernw.com.

Some birthdays are undeniable milestones, rites-of-passage that bring back the fondest memories. ? Leaving childhood by the wayside and entering adolescence at 13. Sorry, mommy, baby's gotta grow up. ? Turning Sweet 16 and taking to the streets. Sorry, mommy, but the car insurance is going to go up. ? Turning 18 and gaining the right to vote, a right that our forefathers died for us to have. Sorry, mommy, but baby's voting for Nader, and has started smoking. ? Turning 21. Sorry, mommy, but baby needs you to post bail. You see, baby consumed enough alcohol last night to kill an entire platoon of Charles Bukowskis, and after waking up in the bed of a total stranger, baby staggered into the street and got nabbed for indecent exposure in front of the police station. Most of us, with the exception of the pure-of-liver and descendants of the Temperance Movement, have a great story about our 21st birthday, whether it's something we fondly remember, were told about by a friend or designated driver, or saw on an episode of Cops. But when the Oregon Brewers Fest?one of the country's biggest celebrations of IPAs, bocks, stouts, pales, lagers, Belgians, porters, and beer-love of all varieties?celebrated its 21st birthday this weekend, it became one of the biggest, rowdiest, and tipsiest 21st birthdays on the planet (while also celebrating the 21st Amendment, which ended Prohibition. Whee!). An estimated 70,000 people?up 10,000 from last year?strolled into Tom McCall Waterfront Park between Thursday and Sunday to sample 73 beers from 72 bre...
