...a thirteen year-old who fasted and prayed today while his grandpa A. was in surgery for prostate cancer.

...a grandpa who seems to have 9 lives and counting! We got the happy call today that the surgery went very well.

...our cat Milo. He came home! After a week of sadness we were reunited with our lost kitty. He had taken up residence with a family up the street...so we'll know where to look if it happens again. I didn't know how much I cared until he was gone (insert cheesy love song). So it's a love fest around here. In this picture he is sleeping:

I love this place. Down the street from our house, we go here on the weekend to get meat for dinner

I spent approximately 3 hours on Friday mourning the fact that once again, I would not be climbing in crisp, sunny fall weather.  Before Hazel was born, we hardly ever climbed with anyone else because you don't need more than two people to climb.  As an added bonus, Barkernews and I like to spend time together.  So it was win-win for everyone involved.  Then Hazel came along and we quickly realized that we needed something we didn't before: Climbing Friends.  Not only do we need Climbing Friends, we need Climbing Friends that are as in to it as we are and by that, I mean climbing buddies who would rather climb than mow their lawn, clean their house or run other mundane errands.

So, if you are that person, speak up.

In the meantime, I am spending my weekends staring at Hazel (did you know that she got CUTER?  I know, I didn't think it was possible either.) and tamely pedaling my bike and walking on beaches.

Our House on Halloween

Nov 17, 2008Imbibe Magazine
"Let's have the holidays at our house this year!" It sounded like such a good idea all the way back in September, but with Thanksgiving a little over a week away you're beginning to wonder how to keep your dozen guests fed and happy. Don't fret: Pick up any one of these helpful cookbooks and let the festivities begin.

Oct 15, 2008frytopia - Catherine Connor

At the end of August, we decided to sell our house. We are in a good neighborhood, home values were holding, and we just weren't living within our means anymore. Our Realtor thought it would be a quick sale. Anticipating this, I packed away everything I thought we could do without for a month. I packed quickly, without a lot of thought to what could be given away.

Well, the house isn't selling right away, so I took the opportunity to go through the boxes again. Since we'd already lived without everything in the boxes for more than a month, it was easier to see what should go and what should stay. A lot went. I had already taken two RAV-loads to Goodwill, and my culling got rid of another two loads. More than that, I let go of a ton of my books, and will be listing them for sale. All in all, I emptied more than 10 boxes. I'm happy to not be moving those boxes!
